Generosity, kindness, and integrity

I used to think people who are high achievers sitting at the leadership positions got it all; that's not correct. Now when I get to meet executives and high-profile people, I see everyone has strengths and weaknesses (perhaps lots of weaknesses). To you, they appear flawless, but that's far from reality. They keep on polishing their strengths and develop auxiliaries to support their weaknesses. Long run their list of strengths keeps on growing. One, however, cannot be the master of everything. Even if someone claims, they are not truthful.

Wisdom is first to know and admit the areas you are weak in and put together an action plan to improve it. Learning I had is to stay consistent and work on all possible areas to give a boost to your personality; some areas would require more effort than others but keep pushing yourself.

One must make sure to develop qualities and strengths that make you likable.

Let me share a little story from an article on Warren Buffet. Students often go to visit Warren Buffett. And when they do, he often plays a little game with them. He asks each student to pick a classmate. Not just any classmate, but the classmate you would choose if you could have 10% of their earnings for the rest of their life. Which classmate would you pick and why?

Are you going to pick the one with the highest IQ? Are you going to pick the guy who can throw a football the farthest? The one with the highest grades? What qualities will cause you to pick them?

Then he changes things up. Who would you think least likely to succeed? Why? He asks the students to take out a sheet of paper and list the positive attributes on the left and the negative ones on the right. Inevitably, the most useful qualities have nothing to do with IQ, grades, or family connections. People pick based on generosity, kindness, and integrity.

Many people could be intelligent and energetic, but these three qualities make the real difference.

I further broke down key strengths and qualities into four tiers to deliver a balanced personality and an effective leader:

Tier - I:

Generosity, kindness, and integrity

Tier - II:

Patience, intelligence, and energy

Tier - III:

Art of communication, and listening

Tier - IV:

Reading & research Creativity in finding solutions Do it now approach ... My list is ever growing and there are strong linkages between all tiers! Some the above you are born with and some you might acquire or develop. You can teach your brain a lot. Think, act, re-think, act. That's the only way one can improve.
